You will participate in the simulation, development, commissioning and operation of state-of-the-art FPGA/SoC based feedback systems to stabilize particle accelerator beams. This includes a new fast global orbit feedback for the SLS, where a redundant centralized FPGA/SoC based feedback processor will stabilize the electron beam position with 10+ kHz correction rate, using 100+ RF- and X-ray based position monitors and 100+ electromagnetic actuators. In collaboration with other physicists and engineers, you will develop and implement robust feedback and adaptive feedforward algorithms as well as online and offline analysis software and models. You will participate in the characterization of the new measurement and feedback systems at the accelerator, including automated tuning of feedback parameters using e.g. machine learning techniques. You will also contribute to the operation, improvement and incremental upgrade of existing measurement and feedback systems.
